A quick guide to the church and our Sunday services
We would love you to visit us one Sunday morning. If you are looking
for a church in Wimbledon, why not give us a try?
Meeting in the John Innes Centre puts us at the heart of a residential
community, and also offers opportunities to use the space in different
ways, eg quiz nights, worship specials and indoor ball games!
On a Sunday we start getting ready from 10, so when you arrive, you may
well find people rushing about; with sound checks happening and chairs
being put out. That’s a good reason to have coffee and cake available.
Our
service is friendly and informal. There are usually about 40 of us, with
a small worship band at the front; the words of the songs come up on the
wal behind them. Alongside the music there are usually opportunities for
people to contribute with prayers, Bible readings and prophetic words.
This part of the service is around 20/30 minutes.
The talk is usually given by Carolyn Skinner, our team leader, or a member
of the church, or occasionally we have a guest speaker; it lasts for 20/25
minutes, normally illustrated by PowerPoint and perhaps video and DVD.
The service lasts just over an hour; we’re usually finished by 12.30.
Often we share in an informal communion as part of the service.
After tea and coffee, there is a sizable group who go off for lunch in
a local eatery, and visitors are always welcome to join them.
Most of Kairos are between 15 and 40. There are a few older than that,
not many less. We only have a few children in the church, but we’re always
ready to look after any babies and children who turn up, and the church
itself has a great family feel. We love eating together, there’s lots
of socialising, and we are committed to making sure the Sunday service
is not the only focus of our life together – for example, every Thursday
night Kairos folk are down on the High Path Estate playing football with
the youngsters and building relationships with them.
Our motto is ‘pure hearts, dirty hands.’ We want to encourage enthusiastic
commitmentto Jesus which leads to involvement with people. We’d love you
to join us.
Introductory video
For a flavour of Kairos, watch our intro video below. It was made in
2007 when we met in the Wimbledon Odeon. Our meeting place has changed,
but our identity is still the same..

offered in the menu which are nothing to do with Kairos church!)
